Banned Hind Boot Update
Below is the photo of the hind boot that has been banned by the FEI and EA.
The reasoning is:
“Please note that the (FEI) Jumping Committee, at their meeting last week, (in 2018) have decided, on horse welfare grounds, that the fetlock boots with the purple insert should not be allowed, due to the fact that the insert can break or fall out, meaning there is nothing to prevent the strap from putting pressure on the tendon. This will need to be updated in the Stewards Manual, which as you are aware, currently allows the boots as long as the purple insert is in place.
