Vale: Ken Dolden, 1947 - 2020
It is with great sadness that JNSW advises of the passing of Ken Dolden on Sunday 19th of January, 2020.
Ken became involved in the sport whilst watched the Showjumping at the Hawkesbury Show around 1994 when he called the Course Designer over to the fence, who happened to be David Lawrence and asked “ What’s going on here” from then on he and his daughter, Olivia, were hooked.
Ken went on to become a National Level 3 Jumping Judge and was a serving member of the JNSW Committee for many years as well as managing the maintenance and care of the timing gear for JNSW.
Very few people are aware that Ken designed and had manufactured the first electric timing gear for jumping in NSW, well ahead of the gear in use today.
Ken with his little Subaru ute and trailer were a regular sight at many shows throughout NSW and his forthright personality was well known to many riders over the years.
Unfortunately Ken suffered a stroke in 2006, resulting in him not being able to continue his involvement in the sport.
He will be fondly remembered by those in the sport who worked with him.
RIP Ken Dolden.
