The sad passing of Roy Jessop

Jumping NSW President from 1996 - 2002

Roy (66 years young) passed away around lunch time on Friday 6 September after a massive three year fight with cancer.

Roy as President of the NSW Show Jumping Council from 1996 – 2002 was responsible for the modern changes to the Jumping NSW constitution, a tireless worker for Jumping in NSW.  He was a National Level 3 Course Designer, the President and a long standing committee member of the Under 21 years Show Jumping Club, a big force and volunteer for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

A love for Show Jumping included the ownership of the very successful Jaybee Schultz ridden by Chris Chugg – the most successful jumping horse at the 2004 Sydney Royal Easter Show along with many other National wins.

Roy enjoyed daughters Freya and Hollie competing in junior and young rider show jumping classes up and down the east coast of Australia.

He built the successful family business Powelite – an Australian leader and standard setter in custom generator solutions - guaranteeing the highest quality support.  There are amazing testimonials from clients of more than four decades.

Roys other love – the BMW Driver Club of NSW gave him many years of delight - he will be remembered for his smiling face and all those days of club Supersprints in the white E46 M3.

The Equestrian community sends condolences to Rhonda, their three lovely daughters Gretchen, Freya and Hollie, their husbands and eight grandchildren.

Here is a lovely quote Roy leaves us: "live life to the full, enjoy every day and skid sideways into heaven with your wheels spinning"

We will miss you Roy Jessop

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a celebration of Roy’s life at Galston Uniting Church, 11 School Road, Galston on Friday 13th September at 11:30am.
